Class Features
Hit Points1st level+
Hit Points at 1st Level: 12 + your Constitution modifier
Hit Points at Higher Levels: 1d12 (or 7) + your Constitution modifier per barbarian level after 1st
Proficiencies1st level+
Weapons: Simple weapons, martial weapons
Tools: None
Saving Throws: Strength, Constitution
Skills: Choose two from Animal Handling, Athletics, Intimidation, Nature, Perception, and Survival.
Equipment1st level+
You start with the following equipment, in addition to the equipment granted by your background:
- (a) a greataxe or (b) any martial melee weapon
- (a) two handaxes or (b) any simple weapon
- An explorer's pack and four javelins
Primal Die1st level+
Your Primal Die represents the growing strength of your primal power. Its size is shown in the Primal Die column of the Barbarian table.
The Primal Die has no effect on its own. A Barbarian or Primal Path feature tells you when the die is used and what effect it has.
Rage1st level+
In battle, you fight with primal ferocity. On your turn, you can enter a rage as a bonus action.
While raging, you gain the following benefits:
- You have advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws.
- When you make a melee weapon attack using Strength, you gain a bonus to the damage roll equal to the Rage Damage shown in the Barbarian table.
- You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
If you are able to cast spells, you can't cast them or concentrate on them while raging.
Your rage lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are incapacitated or if you choose to end it as a bonus action.
You can rage a number of times as shown in the Rages column of the Barbarian table. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Gritty Defense1st level+
Your exceptional endurance allows you to rely on physical toughness rather than agility to protect yourself. While you aren't wearing heavy armor, you can use your Constitution modifier instead of your Dexterity modifier when calculating your Armor Class.
If you aren't wearing armor, your Armor Class equals:
11 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus.
If you are wearing light or medium armor, any limit the armor places on the Dexterity modifier you can add to your Armor Class instead applies to your Constitution modifier.
You can use a shield and still gain these benefits.
Primal Path1st level+
Reckless Attack2nd level+
Starting at 2nd level, you can throw aside concern for defense to attack with desperate ferocity.
When you make your first attack on your turn, you can decide to attack recklessly. Doing so gives you advantage on melee weapon attack rolls using Strength during that turn, but attack rolls against you have advantage until the start of your next turn.
Physically Imposing2nd level+
At 2nd level, you gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill. If you are already proficient in Intimidation, you gain proficiency in another skill of your choice from the barbarian skill list.
In addition, you can use Strength in place of Charisma when making an Intimidation check.
Danger Sense3rd level+
At 3rd level, you gain an uncanny sense of when things nearby are not as they should be.
You have advantage on Dexterity saving throws against effects that you can see, such as traps and spells.
You do not gain this benefit while you are blinded, deafened, or incapacitated.
Brutal Critical3rd level+
At 3rd level, when you score a critical hit with a melee weapon attack, you can roll one of the weapon's damage dice one additional time and add it to the extra damage of the critical hit.
The number of additional weapon damage dice increases to two at 9th level and three at 17th level.
Ability Score Improvement4th, 8th, 12th, 16th, and 19th levels+
You can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or increase two ability scores of your choice by 1.
You can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature unless another feature increases that maximum.
If your game allows feats, you can choose a feat for which you qualify instead.
Extra Attack5th level+
Fast Movement6th level+
Primal Champion6th, 11th, and 14th levels+
Beginning at 6th level, the primal power within you pushes your body beyond ordinary mortal limits. Your Strength and Constitution scores each increase by 2, and the maximum for both scores becomes 22.
At 10th level, your Strength and Constitution scores each increase by 2 again, and the maximum for both scores becomes 24.
At 14th level, your Strength and Constitution scores each increase by 2 again, and the maximum for both scores becomes 26.
These increases can raise your Strength and Constitution scores above 20.
Indomitable Might9th level+
Dauntless13th level+
You have advantage on saving throws and ability checks you make to avoid or end the frightened or charmed condition.
In addition, at the start of your turn, you can end the frightened or charmed condition on yourself. You can do so a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Persistent Rage15th level+
Relentless Rage18th level+
If you drop to 0 hit points while raging and don't die outright, you can make a DC 10 Constitution saving throw.
On a success, you drop to 1 hit point instead. Each time you use this feature after the first, the DC increases by 5.
When you finish a short or long rest, the DC resets to 10.
Endless Rage20th level+
At 20th level, you reach the pinnacle of primal physical power. Your Strength and Constitution scores each increase by 4, and the maximum for both scores becomes 30.
